I love padron peppers! They’re even easy to make a home, but it’s so much easier to order them at a restaurant. Lol

This country terrine was really well prepared and delicious. It was rich and fatty and packed with flavor. Mmm!

You all know that I love patatas bravas so I was pleased to see that this version was pretty good. The fried potatoes were perfectly cooked and the tomato sauce was very yummy.

Pernod broth, toasted fennel oil. Happy hour $5

I usually prefer mussels over clams because they’re meatier and less work to eat, but these were yummy! I’m glad this came with the grilled bread to soak up the delicious broth.

When you’re in Seattle, smoked salmon is always a safe bet! These little tartines were very yummy. With good ingredient, simple is best!

What a great little happy hour spot in the Madison Park hood! The bartender took a bit to warm up to us, but she ended up being great!

Razor clam digging at Grayland Beach.

Trout roe, sour cream, onion potato chips, hard-cooked egg. Happy hour $7
Abe Fisher, Philadelphia PA
This tasted great and was really fun to eat with the potato chips. The dish was really just borscht beets made to look like a plate of tartare – genius! And delicious! And my bartender/server rocked!

Savory rugelach: chicken schmaltz and dill with toasted sesame seed & black olive and plum butter with poppy seed. Complimentary
OMG, these were frickin’ amazing! I wish I could have bought a box of these to take with me.

Benjamin Franklin Bridge and ship.

Avocado cream cheese, pomegranate-caraway vinaigrette. Happy hour $7
Abe Fisher, Philadelphia PA
Mmm, this was SO good! I loved the bass both ways and they were prepared perfectly. The vinaigrette tasted great and wasn’t overpowering as to cover up the flavor of the bass. The service here was also fabulous (unlike some restaurants like a.kitchen).

Flatbush Avenue: buffalo trace bourbon, barrel-aged manischewitz campari. Happy hour $7

Betsy Ross House.

Masago, avocado. Happy hour 3 food items for $22

This was good. I liked the larger chunks of picked crab and that it wasn’t over dressed. The sushi rice was a little dry though.

Tombs of George and Martha Washington, Mount Vernon.

Crispy roll, hotate scallop, cucumber. Happy hour 3 food items for $22
The Source, Washington DC
I didn’t really like this roll. It was gummy, soggy, and hard all at once. I liked the sauces, but the scallop was completely lost.

Shenandoah Caverns, Quicksburg VA.

Kimchi, avocado, carrot, scallion, gochujang sauce. $9.95
Old Ebbitt Grill, Washington DC
These tacos tasted great! I loved the Korean flavors, and the pork belly was fatty and delicious. They were also a nice filling size and decently priced.

DC Brau “The Public” pale ale. $6.95

Kitchen reconstruction, Mount Vernon VA.

Pickled jalapeno, citrus ponzu. Happy hour 3 food items for $22
The Source, Washington DC
This is a pretty good appetizer! You can choose any 3 items on their lounge menu for twenty two bucks. Count me in! This sashimi was ok. I question the freshness of the fish. It didn’t taste old or bad, but it also didn’t taste super fresh.
