Seared scallops, asparagus, fish roe, cream sauce.
Catch, San Francisco CA
This was good. The large scallops were nicely cooked and they were nice and tender. The black ink pasta tasted great with the cream sauce and the roe was a fun garnish.

Sichuan peppercorns, arugula. $18
M.Y. China, San Francisco CA
This was our waitress’ suggestion, probably because it was one of the more expensive options. Well, it was horrible! The beef was SO frickin’ dry and bland. The sauce was pretty much seared onto the beef and made it really hard to chew and eat. And serving this gross, dry beef over a sad pile of arugula was another lame choice by this lame restaurant. The beef was only luke warm so there wasn’t even enough heat to wilt the arugula so everything just stayed dry.

Steamed rice. $2

Grilled chicken with onions and peppers. Served with rice, beans, guacamole and warm tortillas. $12.50
Tropisueno, San Francisco CA
This was pretty good. The chicken was tasty, but it could have been more tender. Who am I kidding though, I really just love their chips and salsa!

Chips and salsa. Complimentary

Jumbo gulf white prawns sautéed with Korean chili paste, black garlic, shoyu and finished with cilantro, green onion and sprouts. $16
Salty’s on Alki Beach, Seattle WA

Ugh, this place is frickin’ ridiculous! Salty’s is one of those annoying restaurants that, besides their waterfront location, everyone wonders why it remains open. And now I can add my two cents. I had an absolutely terrible experience at Salty’s and the food is definitely overpriced for what it is.
First off, the hostess was a mess and SO unprofessional! She was an older woman, and perhaps she needs to get another job because she definitely can’t perform this one very well. The younger male host/seater was a little more professional but I couldn’t get the sour taste of my first impression out of my mouth.
The service was nice, but definitely off on timing. I sat outside, but there really isn’t a view of anything on that lame deck. This place is gross and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. What a waste of my time…

Flatbread. Complimentary

Pear-Ginger Martini: Absolut pear vodka, Domaine de Canton ginger liqueur, fresh squeezed lemon juice. $11

Walla Walla onion, basil, green onion. Happy hour $10
Stoneburner, Seattle WA
Wow, this cheese was very different and unexpected, and very yummy! The thin slices of potatoes were perfect with the creamy fonduta and I love the wonderful crust. Noms!

Sour Cherry Phosphate: sour cherry syrup, acid phosphate, seltzer. $3

Picasso Fizz: vodka, raspberry gum, lemon, suze, sparkling wine. $8

Ravioli stuffed with lobster meat, with a light tomato basil lobster cream sauce. 3-course dinner $19.99
Lulu California Bistro, Palm Springs CA
Ugh, this was kinda gross. The pasta was super soft and the lobster filling didn’t taste very fresh. The cream sauce was also flat and boring.

With bok choy and ginger. $7.95
Utopia Cafe, San Francisco CA
Well, this was different! But it was pretty good (and salty). The minced pork was super tasty and the salted fish pieces were a nice addition, but I think the ginger is what really made this dish.
7×7 Magazine’s The Big Eat San Francisco: 100 Things to Eat + Drink Before You Die – 2014

Vegetable soup with carrots, squash, and white beans. Complimentary

Beef patty, Swiss cheese, pineapple, ham, teriyaki sauce. Served with French fries. $9.25
That One Place, Port Orchard WA
This hamburger was nice and juicy, but a bit too salty between the teriyaki sauce and ham. I still really liked it though, and the fries were crispy and delicious.

Chicken breast sautéed with lemon caper sauce, served with mashed red skin potatoes, and asparagus. 3-course dinner $19.99
Lulu California Bistro, Palm Springs CA
Ugh, this wasn’t very good. The chicken was a bit dry and rubbery and the lemon caper sauce wasn’t very vibrant. Meh…

Johnny’s bbq sauce, onion rings, smoked cheddar, and bacon served with crinkle-cut fries and a pickle. $11.95
Bongo Johnny’s, Palm Springs CA
The bacon was the best part of this burger because it was cooked perfectly. The patty was tender enough but a bit on the bland side. It could have been seasoned a bit better so thank goodness for the bbq sauce. Overall, it was ok.

Ecuadorian tilapia, Negra Modelo beer battered and fried, with salsa verde, sour cream, and house slaw. $3.95
Tropisueno, San Francisco CA
Mmm, this fish taco was very tasty. I liked the beer batter and it wasn’t greasy at all. Top it with some more salsa from their salsa bar and you have a winner!

Platter with rice, black beans and salad. $8.75
Casa Mexicana II, San Francisco CA
This was decent. I thought the mole sauce was good, but it could have been a bit more complex and rich in flavor. Definitely a good amount of food for the price though. The service here is hit or miss though. They completely frustrated me at times…
