Panko avocado taco – Lolo

Panko avocado taco - Lolo
Oaxaca cheese, caramelized onions, anaheim peppers, on flour tortillas. $9
Lolo, San Francisco CA

These were pretty tasty and unique. I loved all the different flavors, and the deep fried avocado had a nice firm texture. I kinda wish this was a meat taco though with the avocado as an additional topping. I’m definitely now a vegetarian, lol.

Chips and salsa. Complimentary

Calamari sope – Lolo

Calamari sope - Lolo
Blue corn masa, avocado puree and habanero crema. $11
Lolo, San Francisco CA

These were very cool and different. I thought that the squid ink in the sope was too overpowering though. I like squid ink, but they must have added A LOT of it into the masa. Otherwise, I thought it was a fun dish.

Sangria and beer - Lolo
Lagunitas IPA. $6
Sangria: pinot noir, vodka, poppy liqueur, cardamom, served on the rocks. $11

Hurricane popcorn and pig ears – Pink Zebra

Hurricane popcorn and pig ears - Pink Zebra
Furikake, butter, crispy pig ears, lime. $8
Pink Zebra, San Francisco CA

I was SO excited for this because I love hurricane popcorn, but this was unbelievably salty even more me – and I love salt! Ugh, I couldn’t eat very much of this without having to down a full glass of water between bouts. Such a waste!

I can’t remember what all the little bites were, but I do remember that I liked every single one! This restaurant was clean and crisp and the service was friendly and efficient. I thought the food was really delicious and inventive.

Top shelf margherita pizza – PizzaHacker

Top shelf margherita pizza - PizzaHacker
Prepared with homemade, local, organic, dry-farmed Early Girl tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil. $16
PizzaHacker, San Francisco CA

Meh, I was NOT impressed with this pizza. Perhaps it’s because I got it to-go and the crust got steamed, tough and chewy, and the toppings were congealed by the time I ate it at home. I think the flavors were good, but I guess I’ll have to go back and try this fresh from the pizza oven.
