Kurobuta pork belly steamed buns – Slurp Noodle Bar

Kurobuta pork belly steamed buns - Slurp Noodle Bar
Shaoxing wine reduction, scallions, fried shallots. $7.50
Slurp Noodle Bar, San Francisco CA

The flavors in these buns were great, but I wished the components were executed a bit better. The pork belly was nice and fatty but could have been more tender. The buns were also on the dry and chewy side.

Kalamata tapenade – Blush! Wine Bar

Kalamata tapenade - Blush! Wine Bar
Kalamata olives pureed with basil and garlic, served with bread and crackers. $6
Blush! Wine Bar, San Francisco CA

I don’t think I’ve ever had olive tapenade served with butter crackers at a restaurant. Crazy, right?! I thought it was kinda tacky, but I ended up really liking it, lol! Noms!

Bagna cauda grilled oysters – Hog Island Oyster Bar

Bagna cauda grilled oysters - Hog Island Oyster Bar
Anchovies, butter, capers, garlic, parsley. $13
Hog Island Oyster Bar, San Francisco CA

Hmm, I thought that I would like these grilled oysters better than raw ones but I think my tastes have changed. I used to love grilled oysters, and these were plenty tasty, but now I prefer the freshness of the raw variety.
