With Bulleit bourbon. $9.50
Oswald, Santa Cruz CA
Wow, this cocktail had SO much bitters in it – definitely not very balanced. That was my single major complaint about this place. There wasn’t a lot of finesse in making these standard cocktails.

Yellow bush lupine (Lupinus arboreus, Fabaceae), Pigeon Point, Pescadero.

Two large chicken breasts battered to order and deep fried, with cole slaw, mashed potato, and country gravy. $13.95
Harvey’s, San Francisco CA
Wow, this was A LOT of food! I don’t think I even started on the second chicken breast. Surprisingly, the chicken was a step above most of the food at Harvey’s although the mashed potatoes and coleslaw were of average/marginal quality. I guess Harvey’s is popular because of location.

Cliff House, Point Lobos Avenue.

Tofu, peanuts, apple, lemongrass, carrots, basil, lettuce. $5
Hula’s Island Grill, Santa Cruz CA
These rolls were pretty bland and lacked Vietnamese flavor. They needed some mint and fish sauce or something. You really had to dip the rolls in the sauces to get any flavor – kinda disappointing.

Wild radish flowers (Raphanus sativus, Brassicaceae), Pigeon Point, Pescadero.
