Jalisco shrimp enchiladas – La Sandia

Jalisco shrimp enchiladas - La Sandia
Oaxaca cheese, corn, rajas, crema fresca, plantains, cilantro rice, avocado.
La Sandia, McLean VA

I really wasn’t as into this was I though I would be. I really liked the plantains and the cilantro rice was fine, but the shrimp enchiladas left me wanting more. The enchilada sauce was bland and boring and the shrimp were over cooked. Thank god for the crema and avocado make it a little interesting. And the good margarita to wash it all down with!

Meat lovers slice – Wiseguy NY Pizza

Meat lovers slice - Wiseguy NY Pizza
Pepperoni, sausage, bacon, ham, mozzarella, tomato sauce. $2.59
Wiseguy NY Pizza, Washington DC

The owner Tony emailed me and apologized after my first post of their margherita slice which was lukewarm and congealed. I really appreciated that I hope to return to Wiseguy and enjoy a properly done slice! Unfortunately, I still had this meat lovers slice to post and it was in the same sad state. I swear I saw them reheat it, but it still came out barely warm and the toppings were hard and congealed together. 😦

Margherita slice – Wiseguy NY Pizza

Margherita slice - Wiseguy NY Pizza
Tomato sauce, homemade fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, parmesana regino. $3.99
Wiseguy NY Pizza, Washington DC

Meh, I was not impressed by this pizza. And I personally wouldn’t classify it was New York style pizza. The crust was too thick and doughy! They reheated the slice, but it was still somehow lukewarm and the toppings congealed. Lame…

Palak chaat – Rasika

Palak chaat - Rasika
Crispy baby spinach, sweet yogurt, tamarind, date chutney. $10
Rasika, Washington DC

This dish was fun to start! I’ve never had an entire plate of fried baby spinach before. It reminded me of the fried basil used for garnish on other dishes, but as a entire appetizer. I liked the flavors and textures of this dish, but after a while you realize that you’re eating an entire plate of fried spinach and the grease starts to accumulate. Not so fun at that point…

“New Mexico Style” red chile cheese enchilada, pork tamale, beef taco. Served with refried beans and rice. $12.99
Anita’s New Mexico Style Mexican Food, Chantilly VA

Wow, this was a lot of food! I really liked the red chile cheese enchilada because the sauce was delicious. The beef taco was basic and a bit dry, and the Mexican rice was bland.
