Lunch buffet – North India

Lunch buffet - North India
Veggie, pakora, veggie samosa, tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, chana masala, gajar muttar, naan. $13.99
North India, San Francisco CA

I really liked the large buffet selection at North India. They had a great variety and had dishes that you don’t normally see for lunch buffets. However, the service was really awkward and made for an uncomfortable lunch. They just need to back off a little bit.

Dinner buffet – Curry Boyzz

Dinner buffet - Curry Boyzz
Chicken tikka masala, kofta curry, aloo mutter, spinach with lentils, rice. $12
Curry Boyzz, San Francisco CA

I finally discovered that this place has a cheap dinner buffet! Sure, they don’t have an extensive selection of dishes for the buffet, but I liked everything and try not to over-eat anyway. This will be a great, new option whenever I’m craving affordable Indian after the gym.

Chicken tikka masala – Cello Kebob & Pizza

Chicken tikka masala - Cello Kebob & Pizza
Chicken breast in masala sauce, served with basmati rice. $9
Cello Kebob & Pizza, San Francisco CA

I thought this tasted good, but there really wasn’t much chicken at all. Such a disappointment. I would have preferred getting thigh meat if they would serve a larger portion of it. I liked the slight spice in the masala sauce though.

Vada pav vegetarian slider – Dosa

Vada pav vegetarian slider - Dosa
Spiced-potato patty, chutneys, caramelized onions and “gunpowder” – ground chiles and lentils, with side salad. Happy hour $7
Dosa, San Francisco CA

I really liked this slider. The potato patty was delicious, but I was perplexed by the “gunpowder”. I really didn’t know how to eat it. I tried dipping the slider into it, but it was just dry and odd.

Kingfisher lager beer - Dosa
Kingfisher lager. Happy hour $4

Chicken tikka masala – Chaat Cafe

Chicken tikka masala - Chaat Cafe
House roasted spices, tomatoes, onions, cream and fenugreek, served with plain naan. $7.99
Chaat Cafe, San Francisco CA

I liked this. The sauce wasn’t as creamy tasting as other tikka masalas I’ve had, and it had more prominent flavors of spice. They didn’t give you much chicken, but I expect that now from most Indian restaurants. It still made for a hearty lunch though.
