Sizzling cumin lamb – Spices

Sizzling cumin lamb - Spices
Onions, green peppers, chilies, scallions. $16.99
Spices, San Francisco CA

This was good, but I don’t know if it was seventeen dollars good for Chinese food. I also thought it was weird that it came out on aluminum foil while already on a dish. The lamb was also not that tender. I liked the cumin flavor, but it should be on a best-of-the-best list

Sizzling cumin lamb – Mission Chinese Food

Sizzling cumin lamb Mission Chinese Food

Salt and peppered lamb belly, chili-pickled long beans, onions, jalapenos, cilantro, green onions, bay leaves. $13
Mission Chinese Food, San Francisco

Wow, the pieces of lamb belly (with bones attached) are SO fatty, but delicious!  I love the flavors of this dish but there are way too many onions! I wish there was more of the long beans actually and that the whole thing was a little spicier.

"Xinjian" cumin lamb buns – Betelnut Restaurant

Superior Farms xinjian cumin lamb buns Betelnut Restaurant

Superior Farms lamb with chilies, raita, cilantro and warm sesame buns. $9.88
Betelnut Restaurant, San Francisco

There are many variations to Xinjian style lamb but they usually include chilies, cumin, and Szechuan peppercorns. This was my favortie dish of the night. The lamb was SO tasty! Add the warm, buttery bun and the raita and you have a total winner! Noms! It was also fun to fill your own bun and stuff your face with it. 🙂
