Biscuits and gravy – Local Kitchen

Biscuits and gravy - Local Kitchen
Cave aged cheddar biscuit, chorizo gravy, calibrian chile, scallion. $15
Local Kitchen, San Francisco CA

I love biscuits and gravy and I usually don’t complain how bad for you they are, but this versions was way too rich. Between the cheddar biscuit and chorizo gravy, you could really feel your arteries instantly clog up. I could barely eat one biscuit, and I can usually eat plenty. Boo!

Bisou burger – Bisou

Bisou burger - Bisou
Choron sauce, butter lettuce, tomato, red onion, applewood bacon, morbier cheese. Served with French fries. $18
Bisou, San Francisco CA

This burger had really good flavors, but the patty was a little overdone. This restaurant is a madhouse during brunch so the service can easily get shoddy (and it did). This definitely wasn’t a relaxing brunch.

Assorted pastries – Larsen’s Bakery

Assorted pastries - Larsen's Bakery
Lemon and cream cheese spandau $2.49, cheese and green onion biscuit, caramel French cruller $1.09, cream cheese spandau $2.49, apple fritter $1.49, bismarck $1.79, bear claw $2.59.
Larsen’s Bakery, Seattle WA

Mmm, these were SO good! This was my first time at Larsen’s Danish Bakery and I was like a kid in a candy store. My favorites were the French culler and the cheese and green onion biscuit.

Matcha cruffin – Mr. Holmes Bakehouse

Matcha cruffin - Mr. Holmes Bakehouse
Yes, I admit it! I waited in that stupid cruffin line for over an hour to try one of these things, and I don’t even like matcha (totally got screwed on the rotating flavors). But I’m also going to admit that these were AMAZING! Each person is only allowed 2 cruffins and you’ll definitely eat both and want another – they’re SO delicious, NOMS!

Huevos rancheros – Mi Tierra Cafe

Huevos rancheros - Mi Tierra Cafe
Two eggs over medium topped with ranchero sauce, pork patties, refried beans, breakfast potatoes, and tortillas. $10.25
Mi Tierra Cafe, San Antonio TX

I loved this place. This line was crazy, but I didn’t have to wait ridiculously long. The food was great as was the service so it made up for the wait. I love the atmosphere and everyone just seemed happy to be there. Yay!

Sunday brunch plate 3 – The Ahwahnee Hotel

Sunday brunch plate 3 - The Ahwahnee Hotel
Pineapple upside down cake, sticky cake, marble loaf, cheese blintz. Sunday brunch buffet $49
The Ahwahnee Hotel, Yosemite National Park CA

Dessert plate time! None of this was very amazing, but I think the pineapple upside down cake was my favorite. The berry compote on the cheese blintz was also good.

Sunday brunch plate 2 – The Ahwahnee Hotel

Sunday brunch plate 2 - The Ahwahnee Hotel
Eggs benedict, smoked mussel, applewood smoked bacon, fried butterflied shrimp, macaroni and cheese. Sunday brunch buffet $49
The Ahwahnee Hotel, Yosemite National Park CA

This was my heavy plate full of greasy, cheesy, and fried food and I quite enjoyed it! They weren’t the best versions of anything (especially the tough mussels), but they were tasty enough and filled me up.

Sunday brunch plate 1 - The Ahwahnee Hotel
Gulf white shrimp, oyster on the half shell, smoked wild salmon, cold cuts, cheese and marinated vegetables. Sunday brunch buffet $49
The Ahwahnee Hotel, Yosemite National Park CA

The Ahwahnee Hotel is beautiful and historic so it was great to have Sunday brunch there. There was a great selection and I thought that the fifty buck price tag was very reasonable. I didn’t think the oysters (and the seafood in general) were very fresh though – the oysters actually grossed me out. The dining room was warm and comfortable and the service was great.

Lemon ricotta souffle pancakes – Griddle Fresh

Lemon ricotta souffle pancakes - Griddle Fresh
Ricotta cheese flour with macerated strawberry coulis. $12
Griddle Fresh, San Francisco CA

I liked the flavors of this dish and thought that it was different and inventive with the fluffy ricotta cheese filling, but I wasn’t a fan of the texture. It was almost like styrofoam which is definitely not a good thing. I thought it was a great value with the amount of food you got though. Too bad, the pancakes weren’t a knock-out…

Bacon – Griddle Fresh

Bacon - Griddle Fresh
Side $3
Griddle Fresh, San Francisco CA

I’m baaaack! Sorry for the long absence, work has been crazy and have been traveling constantly. I’m back in SF for a spell so things should get back to normal. I missed you all!

Now back to the food. This bacon was a little to dry and crispy for my taste. It was cooked to the point of almost tasting like cardboard. What a waste of bacon!
