Braised in California cabernet and herbs, garlic mashed potatoes, roasted root vegetables, pan sauce. $28
Mountain Room Restaurant, Yosemite National Park CA
This was good and I liked the Frenched shank bone. Yes, the meat could have been more tender though, but I liked the flavor and the mashed potatoes were nice and buttery.

Merced River, Yosemite Valley.

Prix fix $45
Laurel Court Restaurant, San Francisco CA
Everything actually tasted great, but the white sauce tasted like beef jerky! GROSS!

Red chili broth, smoked meat and hominy, cabbage, radish, cilantro. Side $4
4505 Burgers & BBQ, San Francisco CA
Hmm, this was ok, but it didn’t have as much flavor as other authentic posoles I’ve tried. I liked that they have it as a side option though. And It’s something different for a bbq place.

With truffles, orange mustard marmalade, sauerkraut. $12
The Sentinel, San Francisco CA
Wow, this has got to be one of my favorite sandwiches from The Sentinel so far! It was frickin’ delicious! I love liver mousse already, but they paired it with some amazing toppings for this sandwich. This was a special that they had, and I hope that I come across it again!

With bok choy, green onion, cilantro. $6.25
Lee’s Deli, San Francisco CA
I actually crave this for lunch every once in a while. Probably because it’s so salty and I love salt! Honestly though, it’s a pretty big portion and it definitely fills me up. And it makes for a nice and cheap lunch.

Pitman Farms free-range duck, quinoa pilaf, market vegetables, mandarin orange gastrique. $28
Mountain Room Restaurant, Yosemite National Park CA
The duck tasted pretty good, but I wish the skin was a bit crispier. The sides – not so much. The vegetables and quinoa were really boring and I wish there was more of the orange gastrique to add the much needed moisture.

Bread and butter. Complimentary

Yosemite Falls Overlook.

Fresh raspberries, gelatin. Prix fix $45
Laurel Court Restaurant, San Francisco CA
This tasted fine, but the panna cotta was way too firm for my liking. It took away all the pleasure from eating it.

With slaw, sauce and pickles. $9.75
4505 Burgers & BBQ, San Francisco CA
Omg, this was SO good! The chicken was very flavorful and and not greasy at all. The slaw added some bite, tang, and moisture to this yummy sandwich. Yes please!
7×7 Magazine’s Big Eat SF: 100 Things to Try Before You Die

Kurobuta pork belly, radish relish, shaved onion, pickled carrot and daikon, jalapenos, cucumber, and cilantro. $6.75
Bun Mee, San Francisco CA
This tasted great. I wish there was more pork in it, of course, but the ingredients were quality and Bun Mee always makes great sandwiches. The roll is kinda harder than I like, but the mayo helps soften it.

Turtle soup, fried frog legs, alligator sauce piquant. $18.50
Boxing Room, San Francisco CA
The turtle soup and the alligator sauce piquant were delicious, but the frog legs were very greasy. The legs had good flavor but I didn’t like that they were limp and soaking in grease. I also didn’t like the serving dish and thought that the portions were really small. I would have rather opted for a full size of a single entree.

Cava, Bohigas Reserva, Penedes, Spain NV. $9

Flatbread and pimento cheese. Complimentary

Roasted garlic, cream cheese, sourdough crostini. $12
Mountain Room Restaurant, Yosemite National Park CA
Ok, this was sad. I felt like my lil nephew put this together and tried to be fancy. The dry pieces of sourdough were especially disappointing. The spread itself was lifeless and uninspired.

Gloria Ferrer, Blanc de Noirs. $10

Yosemite Falls.
