Almond chicken & Kimchi fish – Asiana Airlines

Almond chicken & Kimchi fish - Asiana Airlines
Rice, bread, bologna salad, lemon cake. Complimentary
ICN – PVG, Asiana Airlines

This seemed hilarious to me. Flying from Seoul to Shanghai, it was funny that the enough was half Korean (kimchi rice) and half Chinese (almond chicken) food separated by a wall of steamed rice. πŸ™‚ Anyway, none of it tasted good. The bologna salad was beyond me. I don’t know why anyone would eat such a thing.

This wasn’t very good. The broth was almost flavorless and the short rib was tough and difficult to eat. I was in a bit of a rush, but I don’t think I would have spent much time eating this anyway. It was lame, even for airport food.

Meat grill mandu – Namdaemun Market

This large mandu was actually fried, not grilled. I’m not 100% sure what kind of “meat” this was composed of, but I’m pretty certain it was ground pork. I liked this as a market-time snack. I liked the texture of the fried exterior, but I wish the filling was seasoned a bit more.

I don’t even know what all was in this stew, but it certainly was delicious! There was fatty beef, different kinds of sausages, dumplings, beans, different noodles, and vegetables. It wasn’t overly spicy – just enough to keep me want to go back for more! It was definitely an experience to try to order this from our waitress, lol. And then it was fun to see the dish cook and come together. Noms!

Garlic chicken – Bbobbo Chicken & Beer

This was different. The chicken was good, but the garlic paste that it was brushed with had an interesting texture. The chicken was also crudely chopped so most pieces were primarily bone. That really didn’t stop me though since I’m not afraid to get down and dirty and eat with my hands. Perhaps I should have order chicken wings though, lol!

Tofu balls – Kokio Republic

Tofu balls - Kokio Republic
Tofu fried balls with shiitake mushrooms, bell peppers, roasted flaxseeds, topped with Kokio soy garlic sauce, veggie mayo, and parsley. Combo $12.75
Kokio Republic, San Francisco CA

I liked these balls, lol! They had a soft center and they were packed with flavor. Two balls didn’t seem like much, but they were surprisingly filling.
