This charcuterie and cheese board was wonderful and worked great with their wines at Opolo. It was very relaxing to sit on their patio and sip wine and have a midday snack.

This was a very laid back and fun winery. There were lots of people just lounging and picnicking on the grounds. Although I wasn’t overly impressed by their wines, I did appreciate that they had a good variety of wines that were distinct in flavor profiles. And the guy who poured for us was super friendly.

I don’t want to come off as a California wine snob, but I was not impressed by the wines in the northern Virginia region. Some of them were drinkable, but overall it lacked the complexity and depth that I’ve had from California wines.

I usually enjoy my visits to Gloria Ferrer, but during my last visit the annoying idiot girls working the hostess desk were ridiculous! Gloria Ferrer really needs to reevaluate who they hired to represent their brand and be the first people they encounter when walking in. I was tempted to write a scathing Yelp review right then and there! Bad service is bad service and there’s no excuse for it!

This winery grounds were ok, and the wines themselves were ok. Actually the wines weren’t up to the same standards as those in Sonoma and Napa. I actually skipped a few of the wines in the tasting because I got bored.

This winery was pretty good. Our tasting attendant was cool and informative. They have reserved bungalows outside otherwise you have to sit in the common space to relax which is still fairly decent. I really liked this cabernet sauvignon so we bought a bottle to drink outside. Ahhh!

Most San Franciscans complain that they need to make it up to wine country more often because it’s such a short drive from the city. And it’s completely true! Wine country is SO beautiful and relaxing that there’s no reason why we shouldn’t visit on a regular basis. Just make sure to have a responsible driver along! 🙂
