Mekhleme – Busboys and Poets

Mekhleme - Busboys and Poets
“Iraqi corned beef hash”. Ground beef, tomato, onions and potato topped with 2 poached eggs. Served with wheat toast. $11
Busboys and Poets, Washington DC

I liked this – it was very different. I liked the Middle Eastern spices that they used. It had almost a sour flavor and the ground beef had a different texture than you would normally have in a hash, but it was a nice change from the usual brunch dish.

Shrimp po’ boy – Pearl Dive Oyster Palace

Shrimp po' boy - Pearl Dive Oyster Palace
House pickles, cayenne aioli. Served with French fries. Happy hour $10
Pearl Dive Oyster Palace, Washington DC

This place was jammin’ during happy hour! I was lucky enough that a gentleman was leaving the bar shortly after I arrived so I squeezed myself in. Thank goodness I’m small, hehe. I wanted to try more food than I did, but I wasn’t yet hungry. The shrimp po’ boy was very tasty though! The shrimp were cooked nicely and not greasy. I liked the flavors but thought that the bun was too thick and dry. It need more aioli or something to add some moisture. The fries were lovely though!
