Mmm, I love matzo ball soup. This broth was delicious and the matzo ball was wonderfully soft and a joy to eat.

Hearty soup with croutons, cheese cubes. Complimentary
United Club, San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
I like how the United Clubs have improved their food/snacks offerings beyond the usual crackers, cheese, and trail mix. It’s always nice to get a hot bowl of soup and other more substantial options.

Basic toppings with chicken, green onion, mushroom and spinach. Add boiled egg. $13.45
Ramen Underground, San Francisco CA
Ok, I still do like the ramen here, but I’m beginning to think that it’s pretty expensive especially since you have to tip on you bill as well. There are other ramen places nearby that cost less and are so tasty. I don’t think I’ll come here as often, but maybe as a random treat.

With bok choy, green onion, cilantro. $6.50
Lee’s Deli, San Francisco CA
This is a lot of soup for very little cash so it makes for a hearty, filling lunch that’s super quick and pretty tasty.

Soupe a l’oignon. Melted cheese. $10
Cafe de la Presse, San Francisco CA
Mmm, this soup was delicious! It had a great, rich onion flavor and the stewed onions underneath were wonderful.

Tonkotsu based soup, pork belly, egg, green onion, bamboo shoot, sesame, dried seaweed, fried garlic, mizuna.
Orenchi Beyond, San Francisco CA
Omg, this bowl of ramen may have been on the small side, but it certainly was delicious! Maybe it was due to the fattier-than-normal tonkotsu broth or the fattier-than-normal cut of pork belly, but I couldn’t stop eating it! A definite must-try.
7×7 Magazine’s Big Eat SF: 100 Things to Try Before You Die

With bok choy, green onion, cilantro. $6.50
Lee’s Deli, San Francisco CA
Sure, the sodium level in this soup is off the charts but it always hits the spot especially after a night of partying, hehe!

Vegetable soup, cheese, chocolate graham crackers, trail mix. Complimentary
United Club, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
I always appreciate hot soups served at the airport lounges. They’re warm and really help you to relax and unwind. They’re never the best quality but they can still hit the spot.

Rice noodles, bean sprouts, scallions, cilantro and lime. $15
The Tropicale, Palm Springs CA
This “pho” tasted fine, but it lacked authentic Vietnamese flavor. It felt and tasted very Americanized so it didn’t quite hit the spot.

Focaccia bread. Complimentary

The Club at SEA, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)
This was a pretty small and efficient lounge at Concourse A with a limited amount of snacks. This soup was warm and comforting though – perfect to help me to relax at this bustling airport.

Persimmon, pepita, marrow. Four course menu $59
Aster, San Francisco CA
Meh, this was forgettable. I liked the texture of the pureed squash soup, but it was a bit thick they didn’t pour enough on top to fill the edges. This dish looked more like roasted persimmon topped with a squash sauce rather than a proper soup.

$10.25
Sai’s Restaurant, San Francisco CA
Mmm, this noodle soup was warm, rich and really comforting. The broth was flavorful and the there was a good amount of beef in there.
