Tico's bacon cheeseburger - Tico
With smoked paprika-cornichon “special sauce”, served with French fries. Happy hour $15
Tico, Washington DC

Tico's bacon cheeseburger - Tico
Omg, this cheeseburger was delicious! The beef patty was plump and juicy and had a nice char to it. The bacon looked and tasted glorious and the sauce was heaven. A winner!

Hibiscus margarita cocktail - Tico
Hibiscus Margarita: Blanco tequila, Patron Citronage. $6
This was too sweet and not my favorite.

Lamb burger – Pinea

Lamb burger - Pinea
Harissa, feta, cucumber, yogurt, polenta fries. $17
Pinea, Washington DC

This lamb burger was really delicious, but I think seventeen bucks was a bit much for a lunchtime burger. Although the food was good, it was on the pricey side. The cocktail was also fifteen bucks, d-oh! I did like the tender, juicy patty, cool tzatziki, spicy harissa and trimmed lettuce. The polenta fries were also killer!

Old Square cocktail - Pinea
Old Square: Knob Creek rye, Remy VS, Dolin Rouge, benedictine, apple bitters. $15

Shake Shack, Washington DC

Shack Stack burger - Shake Shack
Omg, this burger was REALLY great, and it was different enough to almost rival my love for In-N-Out (but not quite). The ‘shroom patty filled with melted cheese was absolute perfection! Yes, please!

Hugh Copeland’s Time Square cheeseburger – Gershwin’s

Hugh Copeland's Time Square cheeseburger - Gershwin's
On a brioche bun, side of asparagus. $10
Gershwin’s, Norfolk VA

A friend and I had done a dinner cruise on the Elizabeth River, but wanted to extend our night so we ducked into Gershwin’s for some live entertainment. We sat at the bar and enjoyed talking with our friendly (and talkative) bartender. Even though we already had a full dinner on the cruise, we decided to split a burger anyway. And I must say that the burger (half) was pretty tasty!

Prez Obama burger – Good Stuff Eatery

Prez Obama burger - Good Stuff Eatery
Applewood bacon, onion marmalade, roquefort cheese, horseradish mayo sauce. $7.25
Spike’s Village fries topped with thyme, rosemary and sea salt. Snack $2.59
Good Stuff Eatery, Crystal City VA

Mmm, this burger was delicious! I won’t say that it was better than In-N-Out because it was very different and hard to compare. I loved the bun and the patty and toppings were great. I especially liked the horseradish mayo sauce. The fries were also amazing and I loved that they have a variety of dipping sauces that you can try.

Kronnerburger with bone marrow – Kronner Burger

Kronnerburger with bone marrow - Kronner Burger
Cheddar mayo, lettuce, onion, pickle, roasted bone marrow. $11
Kronner Burger, San Francisco CA

This business actually sucks. They once had a storefront on Mission Street, but they would hold odd hours and wouldn’t open when they felt like it – SO annoying. I went there once and waited outside with 8 other people before we all realized that they probably weren’t going to open that day. I think that’s just a shady and disrespectful business practice.

Anyway I only bought this burger because I wanted to check it off my 7×7 list and they were at the Mission Street Food Festival. That said, the burger with bone marrow was pretty damn delicious.

Papa burger – A&W

Papa burger - A&W
Two beef patties, two slices American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and A&W Papa sauce. $3.99
A&W, Charles Town WV

Wanna know something about me? I actually worked at an A&W in high school in Washington state, lol! I know a lot of disgusting things that happen in the fast food world, but it doesn’t stop me from eating there. This brings me back, hehe. I will say that I do like that A&W still serves it’s larger burgers in a box and doesn’t squish them and wrap them in the paper. This burger was decent, but I do love their Papa sauce. 🙂

Little cheeseburger – Five Guys

Little cheeseburger - Five Guys
“All the way”, no mustard and with jalapeño peppers and green peppers. $4.69
Five Guys, Ranson WV

This burger was good, but I prefer In-N-Out. Yes I’m from the west coast, but this burger wasn’t as juicy and flavorful as an In-N-Out burger. And we actually have Five Guys on the west coast now so the comparison is warranted.

French fries - Five Guys
French fries. Regular $3.39
Definitely not better than In-N-Out.
