Meatball and fregola soup – Claudine

Meatball and fregola soup - Claudine
With pork and ricotta meatballs, fregola, kale and parmesan, drizzled with arbequina olive oil. With added egg $13
Claudine, San Francisco CA

My first fregola soup! I liked the texture of the pasta and the individual ingredients were great, but I don’t think I was a fan of the broth. It was kinda bland and it was barely warm. I came on a cold and rainy day and really wanted something hot to eat, but this wasn’t it! There was also too much cheese in the soup and it was awkward eating around the huge melted blob of it in the middle of the bowl. There was a sourness to the broth that I wasn’t a fan of either.

I think it’s tacky when restaurants charge for bread and butter. Lame.

  1. I’ve never had this kind of soup before, but your description doesn’t make it seem like it should make it to the top my list for foods to try. ha! My wife would disagree about there every being too much cheese though!
