Crabcake, toasted baguette, sauce maltaise, potatoes, mixed greens. $14
Balancoire, San Francisco CA
Ok, this dish looks decent but it tasted like crap. The crabcake was not only cheap and frozen, but it was made with imitation crabmeat! The sauce maltaise was cold as were the potatoes, and the toasted baguette underneath was pointless. Fail!

Those eggs look heavenly!!!
Until you eat them… 😉
Fake crab? bleeuurrggh
ps – you’d know – is the Picnic at Presidio thing worth going to? On our upcoming SF trip we have only 1 Sunday and I don’t want to waste it!
I enjoy the Picnic at Presidio! It’s relaxed and there’s plenty of food trucks/stands to choose from. I would arrive early to get your choice of picnic area and to avoid the lines at the more popular trucks. It’s a very relaxed environment with a mini farmers market (just a few stands) and kid-friendly/family-oriented. I’m not sure if you’re looking for a relaxing Sunday with delicious food options in one spot or more getting-around town kind of thing, but I would recommend it for the former!
you’ve sold it to me! Thanks for that. I hope it is on every Sunday – I tweeted them & asked but never got a reply #angryFace
When I saw this post, I was immediately attracted by the photo. Look yummy with the creamy sauce. Then after reading, I can only say your photo made the food tastier.
Aw, thanks!
I just finished my morning walk when I saw this…defeated my willpower…arghhh. But reading about how crappy it was, I’m back on track!
Looks can be deceiving! 🙂
It looks so good. It is so disappointing when food looks good and ju st does not measure up.
By the photos I thought it was a great dish. Such a shame.
