Was volunteering on the Embarcadero so we ducked into Butterfly during one of our breaks for a few drinks. Our bartender was awesome and really friendly so we had a good time relaxing at the bar and enjoying the sunny weather.

Seared duck breast, duck leg confit crepes, hoisin cream sauce, sprouts and mandarin sections. $29

This duck had a great smoky flavor from the wood oven. It was moist and tender and perfect with the hoisin cream sauce. The skin and fat layer were especially delicious, and the confit duck leg crepes were an added bonus!

I liked most things about this dish expect for those pesky rice cakes underneath. They were dry and then became soggy from the broth, so they just had an inconsistent and weird texture that didn’t work with anything else. The short ribs were very flavorful, but my pieces seemed to be super lean and not as tender as I would have liked. I liked the clean plating.

I liked the presentation of this dish, but the calamari itself was over-fried and super dry! Yuck. I couldn’t get over that part. The tabasco remoulade was also pretty bland for being advertised as having hot sauce. It didn’t have to be super hot and spicy, but it could have at least had more flavor.
