Salt and pepper fried calamari – Butterfly Restaurant

Salt and pepper fried calamari - Butterfly Restaurant
Ponzu cucumbers, toasted garlic, micro cilantro, tabasco remoulade. $11
Butterfly Restaurant, San Francisco CA

I liked the presentation of this dish, but the calamari itself was over-fried and super dry! Yuck. I couldn’t get over that part. The tabasco remoulade was also pretty bland for being advertised as having hot sauce. It didn’t have to be super hot and spicy, but it could have at least had more flavor.

Edamame - Butterfly Restaurant
Edamame. Complimentary

  1. Lol, As I’m reading all your posts, you seem to be getting a lot of dried proteins lately. What’s going on? Dried beef, dried veal, dried calamari.

  2. What a beautiful dish. Bummer that they over fried it though. Haha it sounds like your tabasco tasted more like ketchup disguised as tabasco? 😀 The edamame does look beautiful though, I think it could have made the dish better looking too if the calamari was laying on top of it? Just a thought 🙂
